Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to join as a cook?

The number one requirement is to cook tasty authentic home-made food! Beyond this, we require our cooks to be registered with their Local Authority so your kitchen can be inspected and given a hygiene rating. You should also have passed the Level 2 Certificate in Food Safety and Hygiene. If you have not, email us and we can provide the training!

What are the joining and selling costs?

Great news, it is free to join us as a cook! We only take a commission on what you sell. We provide the most value as a full serviced platform – guaranteed!

Do I need Insurance and to register my business as a company?

Although insurance is not legally required, as your business grows we recommend you get Insurance to protect yourself and your customers. You never know what accidents could happen so better to not worry and get insured. We can help with insurance, send us an email and we can guide you through the process.

You do not need to register as a company on companies house to join as a cook. It is up to you how you want to run your business e.g. you could operate as a Sole Trader and register with HMRC and complete an annual self-assessment tax return. We recommend looking into your specific situation with an accountant.

What and when can I cook?

You decide what you cook and when you cook. When you add a new listing (meal) for sale, you get to choose the times you are available. We want to make it enjoyable for you, around your schedule.

What about Delivery and Collection?

The power is in your hands – whatever works for you and the food you cook. You can decide to delivery to customers and can charge extra for this in the listing or customers can collect from your home.

If you want us to deliver the food we can do that too!

How do I get paid?

Once you are registered and signed in – go to your profile dropdown at the top of the page and select ‘ Get Paid’. Here just add the account details you want to get paid into. Once the happy customer receives their food we will send the payment directly to the account you added.


When you are up and running we will send you Flavour Street tissues and stickers you include with your orders. Use the stickers to identify the allergens present in each dish and add a friendly hand-written message for the customer to read. The tissues are just a nice gesture from us 🙂

Training and support

We want you to grow and enjoy building your cooking skills. So keep an eye out on our blog and your emails for our regular content. We will be asking the experts to train you on various subjects such as how to improve food photography, how small touches make a big difference, and how to prepare food like an expert chef.
